Information and Assistance
The Senior Services Department provides clients with assistance in completing applications and applying for benefits and entitlements through a number of agencies. Assistance includes help with HEAP, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Plan, SNAP (Food Stamps), IT-214 Renters and Homeowners Tax Rebate, and STAR Property Tax Reduction. For more information on benefits, please refer to the Benefits Checklist for Erie County Residents.
Case Management
Our Senior Services Department has dedicated a dedicated case management team to assist clients with a number of services directly through the department and through links to services through referral agencies.
In 2022, we provided support to 661 low-income senior citizens, providing them with case management services, allowing them to remain independent, and preventing them from being placed in an assisted living facility or nursing home.
